The secret to the art of Portraiture is to have the subject at ease and in order to do so the photographer must look confident and must be the first to feel at ease and comfortable in his own skin.
Why worry? After all taking portraits it’s fun!
The other key ingredients to a successful photoshoot are:
Verbal communication and body posture.
The distance in between the photographer and the subject (the choice of lease is key here).
The location where to shoot and the background of the shot.
The origin and the quality of light: soft or hard, natural or artificial.
The dept of field.
The timing of the photoshoot.
All of the above depends from the photographer’s experience, experience that allows him/her, to make the right and more appropriate technical and artistic choices according to the many variables given the particular situation in which the photoshoot takes place.
If we leave aside for a second all this technicalities the bottom line is: if you want to have your portrait taken for work, if you want to have a picture with your loved ones, your pet, or if you would like to have an artistic portrait taken….just be yourself and I’ll take care of the rest.
L’arte del ritratto sta nel mettere il soggetto a proprio agio e per fare ciò è fondamentale che il fotografo per primo sia a proprio agio.
Gli altri ingredienti chiave sono:
La comunicazione verbale ed il linguaggio del corpo.
La distanza che intercorre tra chi scatta e chi posa (che include anche la scelta della lente).
La scelta del luogo dello scatto e la scelta dello sfondo.
La disposizione e la qualità della luce rispetto al soggetto: luce morbida o dura, luce naturale e non.
La profondità di campo.
Le tempistiche dello scatto.
Tutto ciò dipende dall’esperienza del fotografo, esperienza che gli permette di guidare la direzione dello scatto e di dare il taglio artistico più appropriato al ritratto. Insomma al di là dei dati tecnici se volete un ritratto per lavoro, una foto con i vostri cari, col vostro cane o gatto, o se vi interessa un ritratto artistico, concedetevi il lusso di essere voi stessi che al resto ci penso io!
